How To Play Finger Twister

Have you played Twister before? If you have then you know what I'm talking about, when I say it's a lot of fun, but not the most practical. Mainly because, you can't spread out the original board everywhere. That's when we came across Finger Twister on Pinterest. And, it was a Eureka moment! Because, it takes all the craziness of Twister and makes the set portable and practical to play. So, of course we had to try it! Here's how it turned out.

Time: 1.5 – 2 hours

Budget: Low

Materials:

• Plain Board
• 4 sheets of different coloured paper
• Scissors
• Nail / Tack Pin
• Color pencils
• Black marker
• White paint
• Double sided tape

Steps to follow:

1. The first in making this game, is to paint the base white. Make sure to paint 2 coats evenly over the entire board.

2. Next draw 16 small circles in rows of four each, with each of them equidistant from the edges. Leaving space for a large circle on the right of the board.

3. While the paint is drying, cut out 4 circles (of the same size as the board ones) from 4 sheets of paper. To speed it up, you can fold a piece of paper into four and cut it together.

4. Using tape, paste the circles in the rows drawn earlier. One colour per row.

5.Draw a thick black outline for the 16 circles and the edges of the board. This is a great way of covering up any gaps. However, its good to use a circular object to make the circles. So, that they come out even.

6.Draw 2 circles of a larger size, one within the other and divide it in 4 quarters. Further divide each quarter into 4 parts and color them in, as per the colours of the board. To make it look neater, draw black outlines for the outside and inside rim, while colouring in the centre. It's important to follow the same order of colours in each of the segments.

7. Paste the circle in the space above the middle two rows.

8. Draw a small arrow that can be spun in the circle.

9. Carefully insert the arrow into a tack pin and hammer it, into the centre of the circle.

10. Write down 1,2,3 and 4 in the space above each quarter. The numbers represent the fingers on your right hand – 1 for thumbs, 2 for index fingers, 3 for middle fingers and 4 for ring fingers. You can variate it and have the 4 fingers, but thats more difficult to play.

Things to remember:

• Be careful about making the circles on the board. It's best to make a grid and place them within that, to avoid any placement errors.
• Dont push in the tack pin into the board completely. There needs to be space between the board, the arrow and the top of the pin. As, this allows the arrow to spin.
